LIGHT & TRANSPARENCY 13 (DON’T TEAR UP)

"Being estranged from my own body creates a distance, from which my work comes. My Body Is My Home is an attempt at resolution: to reunite my body and mind; to regain autonomy; to re-inhabit my own form. I view my body as a battleground, where the wars — of autoimmune disease and trauma-induced pain disorder — are waged within and against my self. Housed in my own body, this war brings fragility, threat, (in)security and (dis)comfort. My Body Is My Home externalises these feelings, projecting them onto domestic spaces and objects. This metaphor provides me with a unique perspective to critique from as the home is the place where we are most alert and most vulnerable to the body’s failings and ruptures with the mind.
